HOW TO PLAY

Type valid words using your letter tiles and at least one letter from the board.

SCORING

• Letter Values: Each letter has a point value shown by dots in the lower right corner:
  • • (1 point): A, D, E, I, L, N, O, R, S, T, U
  • •• (2 points): B, C, F, G, H, M, P, V, W, Y
  • ••• (3 points): J, K, Q, X, Z
• Each board has different kinds of bonus squares, powerups, and special effects
• Build combos by playing words quickly - each word increases your multiplier
• Cross-words formed count toward your score

SPELLS

Each character has 20 unique spell words! Click the SPELLS button to view them.

When you play a spell word, you get both the points AND the special power effect!

CONTROLS

• Type - Enter words in the input field
• Tab - Cycle forward through placement options
• Shift+Tab - Cycle backward through placement options
• Enter - Submit your word
• Escape - Close modals
• Refresh Letters Powerup - Get all new tiles (breaks combo)

CHARACTER BONUSES

Playing words related to your character's theme gives a 1.5× bonus!

Creatures visit your board randomly during gameplay and can affect your strategy. The bee is your friend, while the squirrel... well, good luck!

Fightin' Words is an experimental real-time word battle game where players compete simultaneously on a shared board.

This project explores what happens when you remove turns from classic word games and let everyone play at once. The result is a fast-paced, strategic battle where speed and vocabulary combine.
